Set in the heart of Lydbrook in the Forest of Dean and previously known as The Anchor Inn, this cosy village pub, which dates back to the 15th century, is now a charmingly converted holiday cottage designed as accommodation for large groups.
Complete with bar and woodburning stove, we’ve done our best to retain the feel and ambience of the old Anchor Inn while modernising sympathetically. For an outdoor, activity or family holiday you couldn’t be better placed.
The Anchor has 7/8 bedrooms, all en-suite, sleeping up to 22 people, plus there’s a ground floor room with sofa bed and its own bathroom for the elderly or frail. Some bedrooms have their own tv’s. The bedrooms at the front have a great view of 18th century superstar actress Sarah Siddon’s house.
The large kitchen is great for preparing meals for everyone at the 20 seat dining table.

"The Forge Hammer & River Spice Takeaway We visited for a drink (and bacon baps) which was ideal after a short walk. We ordered a takeaway for 13 one evening, and the food was excellent. We had the most amazing stay here for my husband’s 40th birthday and couldn’t have asked for a better venue to celebrate! It was absolutely perfect for a big group, with beautiful grounds and plenty of space both inside and out. The house had everything we needed, and the dining room was a fantastic space for everyone to come together, eat, drink and have plenty of fun! It felt like the perfect place for a celebration, while still being comfortable and homely. 10/10 "
